My first impression of Periscopix was not bad. They had a creative company website, friendly HR, etc.
The first on-site interview was actually an ok experience, met with several team member, was asked some technical questions related to this role.
The final interview was with Hiring manager and another team member. From then, I felt the people in this company was quite disconnected from the culture they tried to present. My impression to Periscopix turned upside down after the final interview. First of all, the hiring manager was late for the interview, I thought it was alright because everyone got busy at some time. But during the interview, the hiring manager was very arrogant, obviously, he was trying to let the interview went as tough as possible. Questions became unreasonably difficult from time went on. When he grilled until I have no idea about the answer, I asked him about it but even himself could not answer it. If the head of the team cannot answer the question, why would he expect it from an entry-level candidate?
I knew the salary they offered was quite sub-par at the first stage. but I thought a great company culture was more important than the salary. However, after I met the hiring manager I found the team culture could actually be horrible, and luckily I didn't pass the final interview and got an offer elsewhere 1.8x the salary of Periscopix.
