Relatively easy. Spoke with recruiter, then passed to hiring director. Had a great conversation, but spoke with 3 employees after, one was definitely not impressed, seems to overrule the rest of the hiring decisions.

Question 1
Describe your experience negotiating contracts at a supplier level
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Microsoft (Austin, TX) in Dec 2021
Interview
The hiring manager sends an intro email asking for availability and before I could even reply she sends an email invite. I replied that I looked forward to speaking w her. No reply. On the day of the interview she arrives 12 MINUTES late to a 30 minute “screening interview”without explanation or acknowledgement!! Or apology. When I experienced audio issues for a few minutes trying to use Teams on a Mac (psst sorry MS but Zoom is so much better) she grew impatient even though I said nothing of her arriving so late. I should note I arrived 10 mins early - had she been on time or even slightly early to account for connection, we would’ve had more time and and her composure over the issues. Also connectivity issues happen all the time. It’s technology not perfection. You’d think MS would know that. Nonetheless we managed to get thru her questions but when I asked the basics such as comp package to determine whether they could afford me she shakes her head saying she’s not going to have that discussion bc that’s an HR issue and would come up “later”. Later? I’m thinking why on earth am I having my first screening interview w a person who can’t even tell me how much this pays and why on earth would I give them a full day’s worth of interviews which was expected in the next round according to her (at the busiest time of the year for a contract manager) without even knowing a range at least? The process was so disorganized and made no sense to me at all. As colleagues have pointed out - if this is how she manages an interview process then how is she managing the team?! I sent a post call email nonetheless, acknowledging the meeting starting late yet nonetheless thanking her for her patience and one question I had neglected to ask. No reply. Hey SE, I was interviewing you as much as you were interviewing me. You seemed to forget that. Arriving on time to your meetings is fundamental professionalism. I expected better out of MS. And MS or not, there are plenty of other and better options out there for those of us qualified candidates for which I hear there’s a shortage in the filed right now. Good luck!
