I applied online. I interviewed at Microsoft in Dec 2024
Interview
I applied off campus in my third year of engineering. The shortlisting process was resume-based so I did not have an OA. Then there are ideally 2-3 interview rounds, but I was rejected after round-1.

Question 1
I was asked to pick a topic of my choice in the field of ML, and was asked basic questions on that. E.g) Logistic regression loss function, draw ideal ROC curve.
Then from resume project, he saw LSTM. So he asked me to code up the LSTM logic. I fumbled there so he gave me a leetcode medium problem - 3Sum. Did a brute force on that since i hadn't done DSA much.
Overall bad experience, since I messed up big time. This was my first ever interview in life.
Hope this helped.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Microsoft
Interview
Three rounds back to back of behavioral questions and an in depth dive of my projects where they pressed me on the logic of every decision I made. Very minimal coding.
3 Rounds of interviews, Technical and HR combined, mostly ask about ML Fundamentals, SQL queries, and Project details. Shortlisting criteria not defined. They ask about what you've done and what problems you faced etc.

Tell me about how you implemented the LSTM model for time series data
Had 3 rounds of interviews, all on the same day. Two rounds consisted of behavioral questions. One round was technical. Heard back from them within a week. The organiser also scheduled a call to give feedback after the interview.
