I applied online. I interviewed at MongoDB (New York, NY) in Jan 2021
Interview
Phone screen with a recruiter then about four hours of interviews a few weeks later including a casual team chat, some breaks, portfolio review walkthrough and a call with one of the heads of product. Everyone was extremely friendly and I truly enjoyed our conversations.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at MongoDB (New York, NY) in Feb 2022
Interview
The process has three rounds: recruiter screening call, portfolio review, and design team interview/hiring manager call. The entire process took about 3 weeks.
Recruiter has been very helpful in answering all my questions and preparing me for the interviews. The people I've met were super nice and knowledgable! Really convinced that this would be a great internship and can learn lots! I would highly recommend everyone to apply!

Question 1
What does product design mean to you?
Also many specific design behavioral questions for the last team interview, like describe a time when you had a disagreement with a non-designer on your team.

Interview
I applied for the summer internship program in Sydney, Australia. The application form was easy - no psychometric testing like I’d experienced in other internship applications. A couple days later I received an invitation to a phone interview with one of their recruiters. The interview times available to choose from were pretty inconvenient because the recruiter was based in NYC and I was in Sydney, this is understandable though given the time difference.
The interview was okay, the recruiter was friendly but seemed bored which was difficult to work with and a little disheartening honestly. The questions asked were pretty standard, nothing that I hadn’t encountered in other interviews.
At the end I was told that I would be contacted the following week to let me know whether or not I would progress to the next stage and to reach out if I had any questions/issues in the meantime… 2 weeks later I sent my first follow up email as I had not heard anything yet. I got no response. I sent another follow up 2 weeks after that (now a month since the interview) and also got no response. Roughly 2.5 weeks after that I received what looked like a pretty generic rejection email.
So from being told I would hear back within a week and not hearing back for 7 weeks, even after following up twice, it was a pretty disappointing experience.
