Recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn with what sounded like a position fairly in line with my background. Talking to the recruiter on the phone he seemed quite rushed and just checking off boxes on a form to get me to the phone screen.
The phone screen was odd. The interviewer seemed very nervous. There were no specific coding questions just discussions of a bunch of things from a high level. Some things I thought I understood better than him. He did not, however, say he disagreed which would have given me the opportunity to elaborate on why our company did things differently (and, I think, better) than they do at Mongo. Rather he just moved onto the next questions.
After a week I still had not heard back from the recruiter so went ahead and contacted them. In my view they should always get back to you no matter what the decision just as basic courtesy. Employers take note: if your recruiter seems overworked/indifferent/detached and he will be setting your first impression of the company that is not ideal.
Overall the level of professionalism did seem high at this company.
