Absolutely the most horrible experience of my life. I have been steadily employed but recently decided to try to find a job at NYU, a) because I'm looking to move ahead in college administration and b) because it would be possible for me to work here and study here for free. I have been on at least a dozen interviews in the past four months alone and have not received one offer. More than that, I have had to wait on average one to two months to hear back about the decision. I believe most interviewers have an idea about who they will hire within the first three weeks so this is absolutely unacceptable. And good luck trying to check in about the status of their decision, they will interview you and never answer your call afterwords.
Its a shame, because I have experience working in other universities as well as most of the major New York Hospitals. Applying for entry level or mid level positions is pointless, unless you actually know someone who works there. A renowned organization like NYU should not be this rude, unprofessional, and discourteous to job seekers. Recession or not, this type of behavior would have been unacceptable in most offices I have worked at. Why bother posting jobs at all if you are only passing them along to your friends?
