National Security Agency interview questions

I first applied through their website. Then, they sent me a HireView video conference interview. I was able to take the interview at anytime. After I gave the video interview, it took them 2 months to get back to me.

Applied specifically to "software design engineer". Selected for Applied Computing Development Program. 45 minute Hirevue. No retries, about a minute prep time for each question and about 4 minutes to answer. Ten questions. Mostly asked about technical background (what programming languages are you familiar with? Rate them? What is your familiarity with operating systems? What is your toughest technical challenge?). A few behavioral questions (when have you been a leader? when have you faced a team conflict?). One question about why you want to work at NSA. One difficult question about what the impact would be if all encryption was breakable. Last question was for questions and last thoughts. Advice would be to use prep time to organize your thoughts so you know what you want to say. It is a recorded interview so you won't get any live feedback from your interviewer to tailor your answer (i.e. no one to ask follow-up questions, clarification questions, etc).
