I learned about Netsuite through a friend.
After checking the company’s profile and reading several reviews, I sent an online application via Jobstreet for the position.
A day after sending the application, I got an invitation to take their pre-employment exam from one of their recruitment team.
I went to their office at Glorietta to take the exam. You can pick any time from 6AM to 9PM from Mondays to Saturdays.
It was a good thing for me that you get to choose the time to take the pre-employment test since I am currently residing outside Metro and have to travel about four hours to go to Makati, and is still employed during that time.
I have to say, in all modesty that I found the exam easy. It’s a combination of accounting theories and problems which gauge the applicant’s knowledge of accounting itself, critical thinking and analyzation. If I’m not mistaken, I was given an hour to finish the 40-question exam and an essay.
Two days after taking the exam, I got a call from their recruitment.
It’s the first part of the interview process. Questions revolved around what is written in your curriculum vitae and your long-range career plans.
The way you speak and answer the question in the English language is being assessed during this phone interview too, since the position I applied for requires that candidates be able to speak and write well in the said language.
You will immediately know if you’re going to the next level, and what to expect in the next interview. In my case, it was scheduled a week after the call.
HR assisted me all throughout. He even texted me the night before my second interview to remind me of the things I have to remember in order to pass it.
The next series of questions I faced were situational accounting questions. It went over for almost an hour. The interviewer immediately informed me that she’ll indorse me for the next and final interview – the manager’s interview.
Again, the HR was kind enough to consider that I’m residing in the province so after finding out that I made it, he immediately called and told me that he’ll schedule me for the final interview on the following day. I appreciate the efforts that he has done to make my application convenient as much as possible.
The next day, I have been interviewed by the manager for more than an hour. His questions were not easy. It’s a combination of accounting and logic scenarios. I think his goal is to test the candidate’s critical thinking, analysis, enthusiasm, how much you really want the position, how you will intelligently answer the questions, and of course how well you know about the subject matter – which in my case is Accounting.
I’ve applied through different companies before Netsuite, since I’m in an active search of a company that can help me build my career as a CPA. And, I must say that Netsuite’s screening process was the toughest.
I don’t exactly know what it is they are looking for in every candidate, but I know for sure that it’s more than the technical knowledge. It’s more than accounting, it’s beyond that.
The manager told me after the interview that I made it. So that day, I met the HR who has been assisting me from the very beginning to discuss a few matters regarding my application, and I also took the medical exam that day.
He even walked with me to show the directions going to the Medical clinic, since he knew that I’m not familiar with the ins and outs of the area. I admit that I was really amazed by how well they treat their applicants.
All pre-employment requirements can be sent via email, which made it so convenient for me.
While I thought at first that the hardest part of it was the final interview, I found out later that waiting for the job offer is even harder. Though, I have sent all the necessary documents and have been cleared in my medical exam, I wasn’t able to receive an offer right away, and I understand that this is because they have certain process to follow to carefully plan out the offer suited for each candidate.
My offer came eighteen days after completing my medical exam. My contract has been emailed to me exactly a month after accepting the job offer.
To sum up, the whole application process has been so convenient, though lengthy. (It took almost two and a half months from day one up to contract signing)
The recruitment team is always available to answer my questions, and have been of great help. They have always been nice and warm towards me, so I guess, Netsuite’s people are nice and warm too.
The application process is long and tough, but it’s a worthwhile experience. I’m excited to jump off a new start with this company!
