      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in Jun 2021

      Interview

The process was a mess from the jump. One of the hiring managers actually reached out to me first - directly. Set up an initial phone screen with her. The convo was to determine whether I would fit on the clinical or non-clinical side. I thought it was a good talk, and I said that I looked forward to next steps. She mentioned hearing back from HR. I don't know what's going on with the HR team at this place, but at no point in this process did I ever actually talk to anyone from HR. The Sourcing team jumped in to expedite the process because apparently they needed people ASAP. I don't know if HR is swamped or what, but they were non-existent. I then moved on to a second round with another hiring manager, and that convo also went well. She moved me on to a third round with her boss - this boss would've been the person I worked for had I gotten the job. That discussion was ok - didn't enjoy that talk like the first two interviews. But I was then given a Case Study to work on. I worked on this Case Study, turned it in, and then proceeded to wait a month before reaching out to the hiring managers to get any sort of update. It took two tries, but the lead hiring manager finally reached out and said he would contact me by the end of the week with an update. Before the week was out, I received a rejection email from. No explanation for why it took a month for anybody to respond. No reason for why I was turned down. Didn't even bother to go over what I did right or wrong on the case study. Nothing. I found out after the fact that one of the hiring managers actually left NYP towards the end of the summer anyway - so that tells me a lot right there. On the surface, this seemed like an absolute mess, and I'm glad that they ended up turning me down anyway. I don't need to walk into another train wreck situation - I'm already in one now.
