I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Newegg
Interview
The phone interview process was 20 mins late, which was a first for me in any interviews. During the interview process, they asked me about my background etc. Which is pretty standard. It started going off rails when they asked me these questions:
Can I handle stress from being yelled at or berated at?
Can my other half support the daily household needs that happens at home while I am at work. Meaning, if my kids are sick can they take care of it, because although they may allow time off, but they prefer the other half will take care of it.
Can I learn fast enough in technology since my age is similar to the hiring manager, and nowadays young people pick up technology a lot faster.
Very typical Asian company, and this is coming from someone who is Asian. However a word of advice.. this is America, the questions asked hinted especially about age is strictly age discrimination. Anyhow, I realized what they are looking for is not aligned with the type of company I wanted to work at. So I rescinded my application instead.
I hate to say it, but this is probably the first time in all my years of being interviewed that I had to rescinded my application instead. For those who are looking to work here at a management or entry level, be prepared. If you don't know what working in an Asian top down management is like (where you are just a number and you need to give up your life and be discriminated against) Well, this is the perfect place. Very unprofessional and please look up HR regulations when you are hiring.
