I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at NewsMax Media (Washington, DC) in Apr 2020
Interview
I applied for this position back in October 2019 and was unemployed at the time of my online application. I received a telephone call from this company in late-March 2020 into early-April 2020 towards the middle of the coronavirus pandemic and shelter-in-place orders. The position is based in Washington, D.C. The company told me the position is entry-level and wanted to know more about my experience and what I know about them They were asking me why I did not return their call during the coronavirus pandemic. I was already in a job when the company contacted me and many things had gone on during the pandemic that needed my attention. The company was mainly concerned that my entire work experience consists of internships in journalism. After that, the company asked me to resubmit my resume, and they wanted to set up a video interview with me for one of their shows based in their Washington D.C. office. I immediately agreed to the assigned appointment date and time. Hours later, the company canceled the video interview and said they will get back with me to set up a new date and time. I contacted the company two weeks later mid-April 2020 as they did not get back with me. I got no response. I contacted the company in early-May, and the company addressed me in an email as "Dear [Last Name without the salutation], we went with other candidates in the hiring process". The final hiring process outcome I encountered from the company would still be the same if I was still unemployed and had no job, especially if one was laid off due to the coronavirus pandemic. The company should have told me earlier that if they are not genuinely interested in my candidacy, then they should have professionally ended the conversation instead of staying quiet and being unresponsive. Also, this company was not pleased that I was already employed and in a job in the journalism field. I was honest with them that I was employed. This company took approximately six months to get back to candidates who applied for this position. What kind of company gets back to candidates in six months and waste their time?! I will never apply to this company again. I did not enjoy its service offerings on television and online. It is not the right fit for me and I will never ever applied to this company again as they waited way too long to contact candidates and wasted their time. This process should have been done long before the coronavirus pandemic started. The pandemic is not an excuse. I am just glad that this company didn't choose me and I get to move on.
It was a productive 20-minute interview per person, fostering meaningful discussions. Welcoming environment with attentive reception, ensuring smooth transitions. Comfortable setting promotes engagement, efficiency, and positive experiences for all participants.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at NewsMax Media
Interview
It was disorganized. I had to ask on the day of the interview what time they wanted to meet with me. It felt more like an open call. The person who reached out to me about the position wasn't the person who sent me the Zoom link.
Literally horrible. The interviewer didn't show up for the second interview and gave no reason. The third interview was via zoom with a group of men screaming in the background. They never read my resume either.
