HR reached out to begin interview process
1. Initial HR screen: 1 hour long, go over experience on resume, the role, salary expectations, answer questions you may have
2. Hiring manager and short coding interview: 30 min each (1 hour total). A mix of behavioral/culture fit & medium difficulty coding interview question conducted by an engineer on the team. There was time at the end for Q&A
Then I proceeded to do virtual onsite with 5 rounds
3. Architecture and design: system design question, be ready to ask clarifying questions, discuss tradeoffs, and do some diagrams
4. Quality and instrumentation: testing and quality assurance related questions. Discussed past projects and how you tested them
5. Engineering practices: ~15 minutes of how you handle engineering practices in current role, follow by 45 min of coding challenge with an engineer
6. Nordstrom fit/technical: Questions about resume, a lot of how would you handle situation x, y, z..., what you look for in a code review. Need to understand best software practices. Ran out of time at the end so didn't get to the short coding portion of this round
7. Sr Hiring manager: No technical in this round, be ready to explain past experiences and answer behavioral questions. They want to know how you work in a team, how you handle conflicts in the past, what you look for in your next role.
Overall, it was a good experience. I understand why there were so many rounds but disliked the fact that I basically had to answer the same questions on my resume to many different interviewers.
