I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Rochester, NY) in Feb 2010
Interview
Easiest interview I participated in during my internship hunt by far. Hiring manager was relatively new and stuck to the more basic questions, so nothing caught me off guard. Based on the people that ended up getting hired along with me, I would say the qualification bar was lower than I had expected, which was suprising when I was told that over 500 applicants were interview for roughly 15 spots. Communication was easy throughout the process, the hiring manager was always readily available to answer any questions.

Very basic and straightforward behavioral questions, nothing technical. Have a good idea of what you would be doing and why you want to work there so that you can speak to your skillset and how it aligns with the job description.
