      Marketing Interview

      Mar 11, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Okta (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2021

      Interview

I applied through a referral and was reached out to by a recruiter the same day asking for a screening interview. I gave her my availability and we got something scheduled a few days later. The screening went well and the recruiter was very professional and thorough. She mentioned that I would be moving forward to an interview with the hiring manager (which she scheduled the same week). An hour before my interview with the hiring manager, I was sent an email asking to reschedule due to a "family emergency". So we rescheduled. The day of my rescheduled interview, I was sent another email just hours before my interview asking to reschedule for a "family emergency". So we rescheduled again. I sent the recruiter my availability and got no response for a reschedule. She was not responsive to any emails so at this point I figured I probably got ghosted. Then I finally got my next reschedule. Day before my third RESCHEDULED interview, I get an email mentioning that they have moved forward with another candidate. Response time was awful and I honestly feel so disrespected. This type of behavior towards a potential employee is so disappointing and off putting. I committed so much time to preparing and had to make accommodations to just to constantly be bailed on. I read other glassdoor reviews regarding their interview process and talked to a few friends who have also interviewed here too and I'm shocked to see how negative the reviews are. I feel invalidated of my experiences as a candidate and overall just extremely upset about this unprofessional waste of my time. I read a glassdoor review in regards to the same "family emergency" and maybe they just went with an internal candidate or something. It seems like these two instances turned into "we gave someone else an offer" within a few days for both these cases.

      Interview

Good interview process and experience. I really liked the hiring manager and the people I met. I was very close to accepting and eventually declined the offer mainly because I decided I was not ready to leave where I was.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Okta (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

Process was over 5 weeks long. Had about one task per week (HR screen, then an initial interview, then three interviews in one day, then a homework assignment, then had to present the assignment). After the interviews concluded I was mistakenly called and left a voicemail in which the recruiter said I was offered the job. This was before I was assigned the homework assignment. After I presented the homework assignment the recruiter emailed to say she wanted to schedule a call to talk about next steps. I emailed my availability and then was ghosted. I wish they would have simply reached out to say the position had been filled. Seems very disrespectful to not even send a rejection email after I put several hours of my time into the process.
