Interview
The interview process at Okta was one of the best I’ve ever been through. From the very first stage, the communication was clear, timely, and professional. The recruiter (Rebecca) created a candidate experience that was engaging, transparent, and supportive throughout.
Each stage of the process felt purposeful and well-structured. The interviewers asked thoughtful questions that allowed me to demonstrate my skills and experience, while also giving me great insight into Okta’s culture, team dynamics, and expectations for the role.
I particularly appreciated:
Clear communication and scheduling.
Interviewers who were well-prepared and respectful of my time.
A balance of technical/competency questions with broader conversations about team fit and culture.
The overall sense that Okta values people as much as technical ability.
Overall, I came away feeling that Okta is a company that invests in its people from the very first interaction. I’m delighted to be joining the team and would encourage other candidates to approach the process with confidence.
Poor ending to a good start.
Met virtually with the recruiter, hiring manager, and team members. For the final round they wanted me to meet with the head of the department.
After not hearing back for a week after submitting my availability I followed up with the recruiter who reassured me that they haven’t forgotten and the department head was just very busy. A day later I got rejected citing that they were very excited about another candidate and therefore moved quickly with them (even with the department head). This is confusing and inconsistent with what I was told.
Disappointing they would even request to schedule a final round interview if they didn’t intend on following through.
