I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Old Dominion Freight (Seattle, WA) in May 2015
Interview
Met the Terminal Manager while he was out recruiting drivers at a job fair. He gave me his card and asked me to call him to set up an interview. I called and the interview was set up for the next week. He missed the appointment and called me to reschedule. Finally, I met him at the terminal. The parking is across a lot where the tractors come and go. The entrance is through a ramp where smokers hang out most of the time. Once into the building there are tables lined up for the drivers to wait, read the paper and just hang out with each other. At the desk are three windows where there is a clerk who checks drivers in and out. Told the clerk I was there for an interview and the Terminal Manager appeared. He walked me the gamut through 6 cubicles - 3 on one side and 3 on the other side with concrete girders in the middle of the room. To the right are the dispatchers and to the left are offices for the Office Manager, the Assistant to the Terminal Manager and the Terminal Manager's Office. To the rear of the area are the desks for the sales team - 6 sales persons - 1 extra office and the last office is for the Dock Manager. Shops are somewhere offsite and OS&D sits with the 6 Customer Service cubicles. I sat down, he asked when can you start? I told him and he gave me paperwork for a drug test. I went to take the drug test. There at the lab I saw the Dock Manager with a new driver - Gaslighting? When my results came back, I went in and completed all of my paperwork and I started work.
