      Fitness Manager Interview

      Apr 7, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Omni Hotels in Apr 2019

      Interview

Initially I came for the interview, where everyone was interviewing for multiple positions on the same day in an H&R area that was currently under construction. After waiting about 30 minutes while various people were called at random, I spoke to a random person who had nothing to do with the position for which I was applying & therefore couldn’t answer any questions I had about the specific job. After about 10 minutes of whatever that was supposed to be I was told to wait back in the group area. After another 30 minutes of waiting I was told that the individual(s) I needed to speak with were unavailable (communication problems much?) and that I would need to come back the next day. So the next day comes, I show up, same shotgun interview setup. After 20 minutes someone finally came, and we started what I believed to be the interview process. As it turns out, he also was not the person I needed to speak with either, and 10 minutes into this conversation the correct manager finally made herself known. I’ve been in management, I’ve done interviews, I’ve been in personal training and sales therein for years I know when someone is totally dismissive & uninterested from the get-go. It wasn’t even two minutes before she vaguely mentioned that the position had been offered to someone the day prior (when no one was available supposedly), and that she’d “be in touch”. And that was it. No questions about my qualifications. No inquiries as to my experience. Not an ounce of professional behavior that one would conduct during an interview. A vague, and most likely untrue, dismissal after a little bit of small talk, and then the typical lie that bad managers tell you when they are making minimal effort to be polite, but don’t have the courtesy or maturity to say “we are not interested” though there was obviously not nearly enough time or effort made on her part to determine that. Overall I would not recommend working for this company, or this department. If this is the way they treat prospective employees, and this is the quality of managers they put forth, you are better off looking anywhere else.
