submit an application, then get invited to the next round
do an hr interview
do an online case
if succassful invited to a case interview
then a Final interview if you are successful
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Optiver in Oct 2021
Interview
I did a phone screen in the first round, presented a deck in the second round and then met with about 8 Optiver employees in the final round via Zoom. The Zoom was 4 hours with one 15 minutes break built in, however, some conversations went over so the break ended up being about 8 minutes. Interviewers left little or no time and some interviewers (more senior folks) felt quite condescending. I did not feel my time was respected and felt it was a one way street. I did not feel that it was a fit after the interview regardless of the outcome.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What would you do if our CEO told you they did not want to focus on hiring more women?
If you leave your current job, what would you advise your current team includes in your job description? (interviewer proceeded to push back on the way I described my own job responsibilities...)
...and many, many more!
I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Optiver (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2024
Interview
The process was drawn out and repetitive - most of the interviewers seemed to have less experience than me, the person interviewing. That doesn't disqualify their expertise but their choice of questions showed it clearly. They will ask you to make a presentation, and if they don't hire you, you can best believe they will take your ideas. I think the best way to describe this place is a facade. I got the sense that the people recruiting didn't enjoy their work but had a classic case of golden handcuffs where they make above industry average and therefore don't care.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q: Pick from university A, B, C and develop a strategy on how to engage that university
Late responses from their side during the application period, unprofessional attitude, interviews were delayed. Too many interviews were scheduled. Unorderly and no regard of the time of applicant. Not recommended.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
General questions. Often they try to stress or startle you by asking questions they are aware you dont know the answers to, and exploring those areas more where they are aware you are not confident.
