Not a great experience. I was referred by a long time acquaintance who is a VP at OwnBackup. I was set up for a recruiter screen. The recruiter arrived late to the meeting which is fine. We've all had those days where back to back meetings can make being on time a challenge. In any case, it didn't feel like a real opportunity was given to be properly vetted since the recruiter had to run to another meeting right after mine. Hence what was supposed to be 30 minutes ended up being just under 25. The questions weren't really the best I've ever gotten, and quite honestly it felt like the recruiter was already looking towards getting to the next meeting. Kind of a disappointing experience given all of the good things I've heard about the organization. That said, it's not the first time that I've experienced the first layer of the recruiting process not being the best even for the best of companies. Some recruiters aren't always familiar with roles that are specific to certain subject matters like Workplace, IT, or Engineering. This is why a lot of companies are beginning to go the way of the technical recruiter for these types of roles. In any case, disappointing experience, Even as a referral from a VP I got no response after sending a follow up email. Wish them well.
