The process took 1 week. I interviewed at PSEG (Salem, NJ) in Jan 2011
Interview
Applied for test engineer position. Received call one week later to interview with two senior engineers. Their interviews follow STAR (Situation, Task, Actions, Results) format. Every interviewer asks same questions (i.e describe how you handled a difficult project, were you successful, what was the end result?, describe a time where you promoted safety? what actions did you take? what was the end result?) The employers emphasize this interview strategy and you must answer by telling a story
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
what was the most challenging project you were part of?
Initial phone screening interview, followed by more formal interview in STAR format. Interview was by a panel of 3 people each of whom asked one or more of the questions.
STAR Format
Situation - give an example of a situation you were involved in that resulted in a positive outcome
Task - describe the tasks involved in that situation
Action - talk about the various actions involved in the situation's task
Results - what results directly followed because of your actions

Question 1
Describe a time while working as a (job) in which you were faced with problems or stresses that tested your coping skills.
Very behavioral. The questions are very standard where most were “tell me about a time.” Just follow the STAR method and you’ll be fine. As for technicals, I personally didn’t get any so I can’t really help with that aspect.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at PSEG (South Plainfield, NJ) in Feb 2015
Interview
Interview was over the phone for job description. Then on-site interview with manager and tour of facility. After tour was group interview. Everything was straight forward. Very nice and pleasant during the interview. Did not act that they were above you.
