Had a screening call with the recruiter. Was a perfectly fine conversation for (mostly). She knew the company very well and was able to answer any questions that I threw at her. Whether it was about the history of the company, style of leadership, or anything related to what was stated on the job description. But... When I went through to the next round, I was caught up on the level of the role. It was reinforced that this was an individual contributor role... but when pressed later, the hiring manager was looking for a successor.
