While the application was straightforward, it went downhill regarding the initial interview. When having my initial interview, the recruiter seemed as if she did not know my background, job history, certifications, etc. After giving a high-level overview, she mentioned that the team likes having the required years of experience at a consulting firm. I specifically mentioned that I met the required experience while working at past consulting firms.
At the end, the recruiter stated that she was tasked with asking me some technical questions. In my opinion, and the opinion of active employees on the team, the questions asked were not related to the role.
This is concerning because it shows that the recruiter is not paying attention or is not a proper fit as a recruiter if she cannot assess the basic qualifications of the job description. It demonstrates that the recruiting and working teams are not aligned, and this puts a bad taste in my mouth because no one knows what they want from an applicant. Shortly after the interview, I received a rejection email; I am still scratching my head about how this was determined.
