This process took almost 8 weeks from start to finish, inclusive of the following steps: Applied online, Recruiter Phone Screen, 1st round Zoom with Hiring VP, 2nd Round Interviews with three broader team members which consisted of three parts: a) Actual Hiring Manager (communicated much later in the process which was confusing), b) Team Interview with two Colleagues, c) Case Study with direct supervisory team.
All in all, the hiring managers and direct team members were very encouraging and kind people; however communication and responses to touchpoint emails from the recruiter were non - existent, which I found so unprofessional. I never emailed more than 1x/every week to follow up and sometimes 1x/every two weeks. To receive absolutely ZERO acknowledgment after putting forth so much time and energy (as I’ve noticed to be a trend amongst recruiters from reviews here) is just completely disappointing and disrespectful behavior from a company of this size and breadth of diversity. Additionally, I was given emails to ask questions as part of the process (something that was offered to me), and I never received a single response from the interviewers. As mentioned, I had an overall great experience meeting the direct potential team members and would have loved to work with them from our ZOOM interactions, but why have a process to allow for post interview questions if you’re not even going to acknowledge the candidate’s emails? This was the only negative I experienced from the hiring team.
I think the recruiting function clearly needs assistance in managing communications & in increasing empathy & professionalism for their candidates (there are tools for this!); especially for candidates that are being seriously considered. I spent a lot of time interviewing and had a sub par experience managed by someone titled as a more senior level recruitment professional.
