Interview
I interviewed for the Senior Executive Assistant position based in Berlin, DE. Everyone I spoke with created a misleading narrative by consistently positioning me as the leading candidate from beginning to end. Every interaction reinforced the same impression, right up until the very last moment, when they abruptly changed direction.
Throughout every single interview, they communicated in a way that made it seem like I was their top candidate and that they were almost certain (99%) they would hire me. In my interview with the SVP, even he spoke as if the decision had already been made in my favor.
At one point, the SVP asked about my notice period. I told him that it is three months, but I could reduce it to two months and start earlier. The SVP responded: “No, use the full three months, because when you start here, it will be very busy and intense.” This further reinforced the impression that an offer was imminent.
All my interviews went very well, and it was clearly implied that they were planning to make me an offer. However, the SVP suddenly changed his decision at the very last minute and chose another candidate.
This reflects an unreliable process and highly unpredictable decision-making at the leadership level. They don't provide timely feedback, and despite my multiple follow-ups, they kept delaying me with excuses, saying the hiring manager was sick, when in fact they were negotiating and finalizing with the other candidate. This alone reflects a lack of structure and respect for the candidate’s time. On my side, it was a complete waste of time and energy, as I canceled multiple doctor’s appointments and several meetings just to attend their interviews at the proposed times.
