      Sales Interview

      Mar 29, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Rochester, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Paycom (Rochester, NY)

      Interview

I went through 3 interviews with Paycom. The first one was with the recruiter who was very nice. I did tell her I would be interested in learning more. My 2nd interview was with a woman named Corinne who runs the Rochester office. Which went great as well, however, I did tell her that I wouldn't take the job at 70k base (that that would be big pay cut for me) She said it didn't matter how much experience you have they start everyone at that base but within 5 weeks you could move up and get a higher base. I was a little annoyed to hear this. I have more experience then her (the interviewee) you think they would want to hire great sales people...Right? After this, I did a video chat with a higher up. I was never told this video chat could be done from home. So I showed up bright in early at their office to do the 3rd interview. The lady that interviewed me was super rude at first. I waited 15 minutes for someone to set up a laptop so I could video chat with her and I heard her say "Why the hell is she late" meanwhile i had been in the office for over 30 minutes. So if you make it the 3rd interview YOU can do it from home!) After this interview, I wanted to talk to someone who had worked in Rochester for a year since it is a brand new office. He had told me his first year at Paycom he made 80k...80k?? the recruiter told me most people make almost 200k their first year and this guy was like rookie of the year so I was very confused. He then said his 2nd year he is on track to make 500k to 700k but that he has absolutely no work-life balance and most people don't make it past the first year! It got a little awkward but i said thanks for the feedback and left. After all this, I still was interested (however I knew I would only take the job if they offered more then a 70k base) I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING-the company ghosted me!! it was the weirdest thing ever and very unprofessional. I haven't interviewed in over 8 years so I guess I am new to this "ghosting" mentality. The company hired someone (i know) 22 years old with barely any sales experience, no proven track record, which they say they wanted. My guess is they are looking for young people to use and abuse and hope they make it. However it does sound like you can make a lot of money. it sales it isnt for everyone but the outcome can be amaazing if you are money hungry! At the end of the day i wouldnt of taking the job with a 70k base because it shows me they aren't looking for good sales people if they don't want to pay for good sales people. Also they should at least give the courtesy of calling someone back and letting them know if they are getting an offer or not. Esspeically after 3 interviews!
