I interviewed at Peloton Interactive (New York, NY)
Interview
A recruiter from the firm reached out. He allotted 15 minutes to talk and showed up 7 min late to the call.
The interviewer was arrogant and very blasé about my questions. He made a point of talking about how others have asked the same questions I was asking and how many interviews he was doing and etc.
My advice, when getting screened, the recruiter here is a low mental horsepower individual... as such, I recommend dropping industry jargon and fancy words. This will confuse the recruiter and they will pass you through to the next round. This was my mistake. I took time to talk through background and what I could bring to the role but they never fully made the connection.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
“In what way can you help us market our brand globally”
Applied to senior role online, zero feedback or acknowledgement, not even a pre-programmed "thank for your application". Was then subsequently approached for the role by an agency and was told I was a great fit but declined to have my details submitted. I always find the recruitment process is a good indication of how the business treats its people..

Interview
This was by far the most unprofessional interview with an HR recruiter I have ever experienced. First, they set up 15 mins on the calendar so everything was rushed. The person was extremely junior (had been in HR less than 3 years, not too far out of college either) and the role was a senior position. They basically read from a script the entire time and became very short/curt with one-word responses like "Yep" and "Nope" when I asked for clarification. The phone line kept cutting out so I had to ask them to repeat themselves several times and they became very irritated saying things like "We already covered that." When the person asked me what my salary range was, I responded with my range and asked for the range of the position. They replied, "We don't give ranges at Peloton, we give one final non-negotiable offer." I was shocked at how off-putting and negative their response was. When we discussed what it took to be successful at the company, they said: "organization and working cross-functionally." Fair enough. When I asked what types of personalities succeed there and whether people could be their authentic selves, they replied, "We don't have a format for culture at Peloton. We want people to defy the culture." What does that even mean? This person was just checking the boxes and absolutely did not have enough experience to generate a productive dialog to determine if my experience matched the role. They didn't know enough about the role or team structure to provide effective answers. I'm not sure why they send junior people to interview higher-level candidates - they don't know how to handle themselves or have purposeful conversations. I'm so disappointed that Peloton presents itself as an accepting community and a top company to work for when behind the scenes they have unqualified recruiters to vet talent. Their extreme growth this past year seems like it was too much for them to process and as a result, they let great candidates slip through the cracks. It's such a shame this company is not at all what they portray to the public.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Peloton Interactive (Cornwall on Hudson, NY) in Apr 2021
Interview
Extremely informal and a waste of time. Recruiter stated they'd be open to a remote environment for the right fit. Hiring manager asked several questions that weren't directly about my leadership or background but rather company knowledge. Then proceeded to tell me the job was onsite and I wouldn't be a fit.
