The entire recruiting process is substandard in comparison to big companies like Nestle, Danone and Mondelez, all of which I experienced.
1) Get a recruiter that is excited about the company and can portray that to potential candidates. My initial interview, I knew instantly that the vibe was off. However, I didn’t want to base my opinion on one person so I proceeded.
2) I was interviewed by the hiring manager who seemed totally unprepared and uninterested. Firstly her camera or microphone wasn’t working. Did you not test this before? That took some time to address and she was only able to get her microphone working. Keep in mind, this interview was scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
Secondly, she asked me three questions and still had time to spare. None of which were specific to my experience. She could NEVER make a decision on those 3 questions for a Finance manager position. She spent all the time talking about herself.
Needless to say I withdrew my application. I sent thank you emails to the recruiter and hiring manager and received no response. I also sent an additional email to be courteous of withdrawing my application - also no response.
This experience speaks volumes to the culture at PepsiCo. For a big company, you need to do better to retain and acquire better talent!
