      Interview

It was a single interview that was set up with a outside hiring agency. There were 4 people interviewing you. They were extremely friendly and seemed really sincere. This was my second time interviewing with Philips 66 and I would have to say it was a lot better then my previous interview.

      Terminal Operator Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Phillips 66 (Richmond, CA) in May 2014

      Interview

My position as a Terminal Operator had 2 main phases of interview. After my initial online application I got a call a few days later trying to arrange a time for a face to face interview. Before my first interview I took a computer based skills test, similar to the test most oil companies use. I took this test on-site, and when I was completed we started the interview. This first one was with the Terminal Manager, Supervisor, and another Terminal Manager from Texas who was piped in through a conference call. This interrview lasted about an hour, and a lot of challenging questions were asked. After about an hour of questions we called it a day, and the Supervisor told me it would be at least a month before I heard back regarding the next phase. About 10 days later they asked me for another interview. This one was scheduled for the following week on the phone. The phone interview included the Manager and Supervisor again, but also a Division Manager over about 7 terminals. More difficult questions were asked, and at the end I had a good feeling about it. They told me it was between me and one other applicant at this point. About a week later I received my offer over the phone, I was called on vacation and the call was definitely a nice gift during my vacation. When I got back into town I started the process of getting paperwork together and scheduling background checks and drug tests at the nearby clinic. Put in my notice at my former job once I had been given the final clearance from Phillips 66.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

"There is a contract company who does a lot of good work for the company. You know they do quality work and often don't charge the company an arm and a leg for their work. You see some of their employees cutting a few corners when it comes to safety. How do you address this?"
