I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Pier 1 Imports (Lawrence, KS) in Jun 2014
Interview
I should start this by saying that the online application process is extremely long and involves a sort of personality test and "what would you do" situations. I applied twice within a year period, once in January and once in June, both in 2014. I was offered an interview in January, but I turned it down due to time conflicts. When I applied again in June, I was immediately offered an interview. The interview was a one-on-one interview with the Store Manager. It was very pleasant and involved general interview questions and role play scenarios based around concepts such as, "how would you sell this sofa? What about this chair? There is a woman in the store who has been looking at this candles for a while. How would you approach her?" The interview itself didn't last very long and I heard back from the Store Manager within a few days.

I interviewed at Pier 1 Imports (Fort Collins, CO)
Interview
It was about 30 minutes long. The manager asked me basic questions about myself and the job. He wanted to know my availability and if I were able to unload the truck due to the boxes being heavy.
Simple and transparent process. After applying, was asked to come in to interview in person. Interview was professional and took around 45 minutes. Heard back from hiring manager within a week.
