The recruiter was amazing. Loved her.
Phone screener was quick (30 minute call).
Then Excel exercise (30 minutes).
Brought in for in person. 2 hours total, 30 minutes each with 4 people (3 AEs and 1 AM).
The AM reviewed the Excel with me. There was no conversion rate in the Excel provided. I added it in when analyzing, but it turned out the worst pin was slightly under-performing in terms of conversion rate. The AM asked a lot of questions that drifted off... like he was waiting for me to finish his sentences. His questions felt like pop quizzes, and at one point, he asked, "could you look at something else?.... like a ratio?.... of con....ver.....sions..." waiting for me to show I know what a conversion rate was. WTF? This skill set is 3 levels below what I'm interviewing for. I was ok spending a half hour to bust through their excel template, but his questions were insulting. This guy didn't know how to interview people and I know how tanked me in the decision process because the feedback specifically referred to our miscommunication around the conversion rate.
The other 3 (the AEs) were fine. They stuck to their predetermined 3 questions each and didn't get to know me much.
I was also surprised to be interviewed by four men for a position at Pinterest.
