there is actually no interview, but the admission criteria is really high. most Chinese students are from top universities in China, Tsinghua, Peking and Science and Technology University, and most rank top 5 in department

Scheduled a call with a professor who had read my application and was interested in working with me. 1hr zoom interview where I was asked about my experience and interests.
four interviews with faculty members. all were very welcoming. we mostly discussed our research interests and i did not feel interviewed at all. by far my nicest interview experience so far.
