I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Publicis Sapient in Nov 2020
Interview
The interview had majorly 2 rounds:
1. Case Study Round
I was given a case study to work upon. I designed my entire idea, showed them the process and had a proper interview around it. The best part was that I literally messed up in the first attempt. I had to submit my work in 2 days so I designed what I could in that time frame.
During my interview, the design manager was quite frank and we went through my work one by one.
The best part about this entire interview was that the interviewer critiqued my work and broke my design into all the possible parts. Usually candidates don't get another chance but I was given one more shot on the assignment based on the discussion I had.
1. Case Study Round (attempt 2)
This time, I noted down all the mistakes I made in my first attempt and tried to address most of them in my new approach. Since I wasn't married to my design, I came up with a new approach all together. The interview went well.
At this point, I was confident however, even if I wasn't selected, I was happy that I got to learn a lot in this interview round. Like most of the interviews, it wasn't one way conversation.
2. Personality Round
In this round, a senior leader usually gets on a call to understand your attitude and behaviour towards critical business situations. Eg: What would you do if your leadership is not understanding your design and you know your design would help the client?
Questions which would test your attitude towards your work.
This was a new type of round however, there was a lot of learning involved here as well. I got to know the process, the way Design teams work etc.
3. Salary Negotiation with HR
Quick Tip: Don't mess around. Be direct and upfront with what offers you have and what you are expecting. Offer shopping is okay but just don't overdo it.
I appreciate how all the follow ups were taken. I was well informed at every stage of my hiring.
