      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at R.R. Donnelley in Aug 2020

      Interview

Phone Interview with NY-based recruiter. The interview was going smoothly until he elected to change the tone completely. He decided to reject my candidacy because I did NOT file for unemployment in January when I departed my previous firm. Quite frankly, I have never experienced nor heard about anything like this. This was easily the most ridiculous interview that I have ever taken part in.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      - Walkthrough of my previous positions. - Long-winded lecture about how he had to move back in with his parents after he got his MBA. - Lecture about why it is fishy that I didn't file for unemployment

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at R.R. Donnelley (Tokyo) in Nov 2023

      Interview

I interviewed for a researcher role at RR Donnelly Holdings GK Japan. To be honest, I should have been more wary from the start - I initially applied for another position (translation coordinator), but right after the assessment test was arranged I got a call from the recruiter who hooked me up with them saying that the role had already been fulfilled, but they had another position they were looking to fill, and wanted to know if I were interested in it. The trouble started after the first two interviews, the latter which was stated as being the final - the hiring staff apparently had problems deciding who should make the cut, and after nearly two weeks asked me to go down to their office for an in-person interview. Despite the dress code being business casual, there was one interviewer whose outfit, a T-shirt and baggy black pants, was anything but. Despite having gotten glowing feedback from them after the first interview ("has all the required skills for the job", "no doubts that the candidate is qualified for the role"), the reason they gave for rejecting me after the second final interview was just simply "the role is not a good match". Confusing, disappointing and infuriating to say the least, especially after dragging the process out for much longer than it should have taken. Would not recommend this company simply for their lack of sincerity and how they have no qualms about stringing people along.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Q: In this role, you will be expected to work on your own a lot, plus as it is a high-speed environment, you will have to be good with time management. How have you managed to cope with your deadlines and workload in your previous jobs?
