      Junior Associate Interview

      Apr 30, 2009
      Anonymous employee
      Montreal, QC
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at RBC (Montreal, QC) in May 2007

      Interview

I sent an application to the branch manager describing what were my skills and what l was looking for. I got a call back and a phone interview with the Branche Administrator after which l was invited to come by the office to meet with the Branch Manager. A secon interview was scheduled with a Portfolio Manager who needed a junior associate. Over all it took slightly over a month to get the offer and 4 trips to the office. The interviews with the Branch Manager were essentially personality based. I guess they needed to know if l would be a good fit to the rest of the team. The interview with the Portfolio Manager were more oriented towards what tasks were going to be assigned to me and if l had the relevant skills to be intrusted with the responsibilities. He was impressed by my extra academic acheivement which at the time included a level 1 CFA and completion of a good chunk of Securities Courses from CSI completed while l was still in college. He was touched by my enthoussiasm and comfort level with reading considerable volumes of financial reports and connecting the dots.
