      Career Launch Program Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Toronto, ON
      Declined offer
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at RBC in Nov 2014

      Interview

You apply online when the hiring process is open (october) and you must be under 24 yo. After several weeks, you will receive a call from an hiring manager asking you basic questions such as ''Why RBC?'' and ''What will you bring to us as for customer services?''. After the first part, I tought she wouldn't call back as she was rude. Weeks later, they called back but it was a different woman who asked me the same questions and proceded to invite for a on-the-phone/skype interview. That was the 3rd interview and it was with the same lady; there are actually 4 interviews, the last one being the only one face-to-face. I first tought that an interview via webcam was not suitable (you speak through your phone not the webcam!!), but whatever. Very important to show that you are willing to learn a lot.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Must be ready to give real examples about past experiences that required you to show leadership/effort/initiative/etc. Ask you about customer services experience (which I do have) even though this program doesn't require any work experience, surprising.
      Answer question

      Interview

it was not a very good experience and sounded like a bit of an odd program to be involved in. poorly organized. not very professional process. was given offer from a 1-800 call centre in trinidad instead of an actual manager

      Interview

Fairly easy interview process for a competitive program. They hire based on personality and character, rather than what you studied/previous experience. They're looking for people who are independent but also have a great team attitude. The holistic approach is good especially if you're a new grad and you're repeatedly told that "you don't have enough experience".
