      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at RBC in Jan 2025

      Interview

HR recruiter made multiple calls one after the other but did not leave a message or send email. Calls appear as RBC on caller ID and even recruiter admitted that many people reject the call assuming it's spam. First thing he wanted to discuss was salary. He gave a bogus range for the role. I responded with an expected number that was $24k higher than the highest of his range. He proceeded to change the range he previously told me was 'set in stone'. Proceeded to ask hard hitting questions right off the bat, without notice that this was an interview. I proceeded to the next round and virtually met with senior leaders for the team. Though they were really lovely, they were clearly reading questions from a script that would have been acceptable 10 years ago. A few weeks later I received a calendar invite for the next stage interview. No call, no email, no information. I emailed the HR recruiter to say I accepted an offer that was higher than what he told me for this role. He didn't reply ro my email but simply canceled the meeting invite. RBC - your HR recruiters are old-school sales guys. Other professional organizations don't act this way and you're going to continue to lose great potential candidates because they leave us feeling unsafe about the future of work at RBC.

      I interviewed at RBC

      Interview

Efficient, structured process. Transparency around the timeline and next steps. Started with HR screening and then two interviews. Interview questions after HR screening were a little bit odd and off putting in selling the role and team.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How would you rate your skills on a scale of 1-10 against the following: presentations, slide decks, managing stakeholders, and writing.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at RBC (Toronto, ON) in Aug 2025

      Interview

Multiple rounds, including an HR screener, a technical (code) interview, a round with the hiring manager, and with his manager. They were not clear about the exact process up-front. My interview with the hiring manager was titled "final interview", but then was asked to come to another interview after.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The technical interview was done live (without a computer), but they asked code questions. For some of the questions, they asked me to write down sql code on paper. The questions were pretty straight-forward, such as how to summarize a statistic which required joining two tables and aggregating.
