Submitted online, contacted by a very active and engaging representative from HR. Given a phone screen by HR then granted an in person interview. When I arrived, I was put in a small windowless conference room. A technical team member entered the room and proceed to ask numerous technical questions in an extremely confrontational manner for an hour. Then he left and after 20 minutes I was joined by two managers, this portion of the interview was open, honest, and enjoyable.
I was then contacted by HR saying that I was not granted an offer because of the technical team member but was regarded at the top of the list by the managers. He recommended that I reach out to the technical individual to thank them for the interview as I was close to an offer, but I was so taken back from the experience that I politely declined.
While both HR and the managers made for the best interview experience I’ve had, the technical individual was so combative that I would refuse any offer from the company since the culture tolerates this.
