Originally applied for a position in May. Did a phone screen with the in house recruiter, then spoke to the hiring manager a few days later on a hiring manager screen. No response for a week, which is when I emailed asking for an update. The recruiter informed me that the manager has decided to move on with a different candidate.
Fast forward 4 months to September, where I saw the role relisted, and I reapplied. The recruiter acknowledged I had reapplied (same recruiter) and that the hiring manager would be interested learning more. Did another phone screen with another member of the team. I was then asked to come in for a face to face interview. Prior to coming in, I asked for clarity on the history of the position and what happened with the previous candidate. Was told by the recruiter that the position was filled but the candidate departed.
I go in for the interview, meet with 3 team members, the hiring manager, and the hiring manager's manager. Asked the hiring manager the same thing I asked the recruiter, what happened with the position, but was given a different story. The position had closed internally without hiring anyone because of business needs. They only reopened because the need came back up. Was told they were in no rush to hire and that they could wait for the right candidate. I get that.
After interview, am told that I will hear back in 3-4 weeks. I reach out the day after with a follow up email - no response. Two weeks later, I interview again, - no response. Reach out 4 weeks after interview - no response. Basically it was a complete waste of time. I can understand if the fit is wrong. I can't understand the lack of communication.
Was hoping the reviews were wrong about the position. Upon questioning the team on their perspectives, I came away with the thought that the reviews could be exaggerated. The way this process went, I am siding more towards the negative reviews.
