I applied through Monster for an Office Assistant position located in RI. Later in the afternoon, a recruiter from the Boston office calls & leaves a msg. "I see you applied for one of our positions, but I'd like to speak to you about another opportunity, please call back, etc." I call back 10 minutes later, give her my name and she says, "Uh, who? Can you refresh my memory?" So I repeated what she said in the msg. She said she couldn't find my resume so she'd send me an email asking for a word formatted copy of my resume.
She calls back & starts going through her speech about this other position w/Bank of America and then she asks me what am I looking for in a position. As I start to speak, she says she has to either put me on hold or call me back. I said I'd wait on hold. After almost a minute, she gets back on and goes through the job description and I didn't think I was the right person for the job based on some of the duties. After I said that, she changes her tune & says she misspoke & didn't clearly specify the duties correctly and changed what she said. Then she asked do you I still want to pursue it. I said fine, I'm open to trying. She said she would forward my resume & ends the call.
No sooner do I walk away, she calls back and says she needs my ss# because BOA does a re-hire check when interviewing people to make sure it's not a former employee. I expressed my concern about giving my ss#, but she said they wouldn't run my credit, just verify I'm not a former employee even though I told her when she asked that I wasn't. Stupid me agreed because I'm so desperate to leave my current job, that I gave it. I now realize after reading other reviews, she just wanted to make it look like she processed me through their system so she'd get paid for another "hire".
