I interviewed virtually with 3 people, following the phone screening with the Recruiter. It took about 2 weeks to complete the interview process. I heard back from the Recruiter that they want to offer me the position. Then a day later I received a message that there is a problem. I called and she stated the salary on the jd was the Total Compensation and not just the salary. However, I had printed a copy of the jd and it clearly stated the the salary did not include the bonus, and the bonus was in addition. She said the new salary is now $20K less than what was printed on the jd. On another call she proceeded to provide another reason for the salary range change - she stated their HR process was flawed and did not include a current competitive salary review before posting it, so they used the old one from 6 years ago. She said she has now corrected this. This is a mature company with over 27K employees, so I highly doubt the HR process was at fault. And if they used a 6 year old salary, it would make sense that the salaries today are higher, so why are they now reducing it from 6 years ago. I caught her in a few lies. She said she was not going to make me an offer because I wanted to make a lot more than what they originally offered. This was another lie. I wanted to make what they were offering on the original jd. So instead of taking accountability for her error, she blamed her HR department and me. I'm sure the Recruiter told the Hiring Manager a different story to avoid making herself look bad. If this is how they treat candidates, I would not want to work there - toxic!
