I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Samsung Next (New York, NY) in May 2019
Interview
Straightforward as they provided an overview of the job, roles and responsibilities and had standard first-round questions. Person conducting interview was easy to talk to and then described the follow-up project that was apart of the interview process.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Samsung Next
Interview
Went through a 2 round process with an interview and a written research exercise testing creativity and ability to spot business/innovation opportunities.
Passed both rounds and was supposed to present to the innovation team for the final round. A week before the final round, I was told that they were no longer hiring for that role.
It didn't really seem like the hiring team or HR had much clarity on their own needs or hiring plans
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
General background and experience in technology innovation and market research.
For the written exercise, I was asked to identify a sector where Samsung is active and and identify driving technology and market trends that offer new business opportunities. I was asked to make new product and service innovation recommendations that can help Samsung enter and establish leading positions in those opportunity areas.

Interview
Had a brief call with HR which went great. They opened this new role and they didnt know what they exactly wanted. They asked me to do a case study and worked on it for a full week. They didnt get back to me. It seemed they were fishing for ideas in the market and had no intentions of hiring anyone. Beware, dont waste a lot of time working on that case!
