Was told to bring a code sample to present for the interview. The interview was also a group interview with two other candidates (should have been the first red flag). There were two interviewers, one was a current engineer, the other was the software engineer director. The director did not say much during the interview, and the current engineer was doing most of the talking. I found him to be very condescending during the interview, and he would chuckle or scoff when I explained something which I did not appreciate. I felt humiliated during this interview process, and I wish I left halfway through. It doesn't end there. They then tell us that there is a 'second phase' interview which was not told to us in any emails I had received. They gave us this large problem regarding API calls and data bases and had all of us candidates (there were 3 of us including myself) solve it in front of them. It took another hour on top of the first hour of the interview we were told about. I found this to be ridiculous. Complete lack of transparency, unprofessional, and waste of time. I wish they had told us there would be two phases to the interview instead of just springing it on us. I spent time preparing the code sample as is, and then they go and do this second phase sneakily. I am so surprised at their arrogance for an education company. I did not appreciate the interviewer, or the lack of transparency. And surprise, surprise, I did not hear from them after that interview and got ghosted. They didn't even have the decency to send me a rejection email after all of that time and preparation I did. So unprofessional all around. Absolutely ridiculous. I do not recommend interviewing at this company to anyone. Since they treat their potential candidates like a piece of crap and don't value the candidate's time I can't imagine what it is like at the company.
