Technical panel included live coding and general approach questions and then behavioral / “business” interviews with directors / chief data officer.
The interview was comprehensive, long and thorough which is fine and their approach to hiring - it was not thoughtful rather difficult for the sake of being so. The attitude and environment created from each of the directors and chief data officer made it hard to succeed as well. It reeked of privilege, ego, pompous attitudes that lead too an inability to empathize with perspective outside of their own limited dynamics perpetuated within their blossoming startup and their esteemed private educations..second part was maybe not relevant to highlight the attitude was pungent. They all almost seemed to be exhausted to answer valid questions, as if I were pulling teeth despite being invited to apply and advance to the final rounds and engage and such an in depth interview. The chief data officer made snide remarks and repeated questions asked to himself in a sarcastic manner making no eye contact. It felt unprofessional even for tech.
At the end of the day I accepted the opportunity to interview and could have stopped at any point and I don’t mean to pass too much judgment on people I only met briefly. That being said, my interview performance felt marginalized by the disposition of senior leaders. I didn’t get the job fair and square and while this response may be negative it is coming from a place to help improvement and respect for good business exchanges - I encourage them to be more empathetic in their hiring process because it will bring the best out of candidates and in turn help them retain better talent.
