Well this is a first. I applied for a high-level role at Sedgwick and about a week later a recruiter emailed about wanting to have a screener interview. I gladly accepted and we settled on the next day. As I was prepping for the interview, about 10 mins before the recruiter was to call, I received an automated email saying "after careful consideration" I was being rejected for the opportunity. I was stunned to say the least. I checked the candidate portal and it showed me as no longer under consideration. Then 5 mins later, I get a text from the recruiter telling me a meeting she was in was running long so she would be a little late calling me and if that was OK. I said sure but then told her I received this rejection email from them so was she sure I was still under consideration.
Then 10 mins later she calls and says she has no idea why I got that email because she owns the requisition and made no changes to it. We have our screener conversation and I thought it went well. She asked good questions and I felt it gave me the opportunity to show my abilities but also my capacity for growth. The role was not a stretch or a transition; it is squarely within my skill set and career trajectory. I sent a thank you note. Silence. A week later I sent a "just checking in" email. Silence. I never heard from her again.
