I was given a preliminary interview with a member of the Human Resources staff, rather than with the hiring team, to screen for a position which manages a product which is beyond the scope of what your average Human Resources staff would understand. I was rejected after a 30 minute assessment because the member of the Human Resources staff did not probe deeply enough. For example, the member of the Human Resources staff asked me only about my experience in my current company, which did not have much relevance to the role, and did not give me the opportunity to explain the relevance I had in other roles in the past. Their unfortunate screening method means that they will miss out on top-tier candidates because their Human Resources staff are unable to find talent beyond asking a set of written down questions. Surely if this company was based in a more competitive jobs market, they would never survive.
Dear Sender,
Thank you for sharing your experience.
During our recruitment process we try to make sure each candidate has time to introduce themselves in the best light. Depending on the requirements of the role though, we sometimes look more into the most recent job experience. This might have given you an impression of not having enough time to present your full experience history. We encourage each and every candidate to ask for feedback and share their doubts about the decisions made by the hiring teams. In case you still like to discuss your candidature feel free to reach out to the recruiter you were in touch with.
