I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sentara Health in Jul 2025
Interview
Went through a 3-part interview. First interview was with the Proposal Manager (Jane). Second part was to provide samples of my writing and had a writing and editing test. Third and final interview was with the proposal team - this included the Proposal Director. I immediately noticed a homogeneity amongst the team. That was a red flag. Everyone asked me several questions, not hard-hitting. But it was clear the proposal team was looking for a specific "type" of individual that would continue that sameness. I had a different proposal career experience and I think ultimately it was their bias around "longevity" at a company and most likely wanting someone who has shown some form of loyalty in their career (working 5+ years at company). I also think they assumed because I held higher career positions (Proposal Manager), that I would be interested in returning to a managerial spot and I wasn't. I just needed a job back in my field.
