Weird experience is an understatement.
I spoke with the hiring manager first, then moved to a 4-interview final round which included one interview with the hiring manager again and 3 others with stakeholders—overall super easy interviews. Their vetting process was very loose, considering this was supposed to be a Strategy position sitting close to C-Suit. The hiring manager asked 1-2 situational questions, one other interviewer asked a very conversational and super easy case, and the other two interviewers (more senior) just walked through my resume.
The most senior person I talked to (think someone who is a direct report of the CEO) was yelling at me during the interview, supposedly to ask questions about my background with a serious accusatory tone.
Overall very off-putting experience. Pretty much everyone I talked to came across as insincere, with a chip on their shoulder— big red flag.
To top that, their recruiter reached out to set up a time to discuss the outcome of the process before I completed two of the interviews (they were distributed across a week). I had an offer at the time and wanted to get an answer faster from Shipt, so I asked her if it's possible to get an answer right after my last interview. She clearly didn't even bother reading my full email (4 sentences total) and came back to ask: how about we chat tomorrow? - on the day and BEFORE my last interview. So I respond that it's ok but should I assume my last interview is canceled? or rescheduled? Hilariously she doesn't respond to this email. I email her the day after, right at the time that she suggested we chat, asking if she's actually going to call. She responds that "I responded to her late the day before," so she filled her schedule and accused me of not catching the timezone right. I actually responded before 2 pm her time (late?), and she actually got everything wrong. At this point, I still didn't know whether my interview that day is canceled or not. I had to send her a long email to explain everything again and CC a few other HR people at Shipt to get her to finally read my question and let me know that I'm still interviewing that day.
I hope that provided you with a shining glips of what kind of shop Shipt is running..
