I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at SiriusXM in Sep 2021
Interview
Met with an Associate Director of Tech Recruiting out of Texas.
Many of the questions led me to believe that he researched my information. I was made to feel like I was met with biases and prejudgment.
As a member of a protected class, this is the first interview experience I've ever had that led me to believe that a hiring decision was already made.
The final question, that confirmed to me my beliefs, was a question around customer obsession and following up with candidates. It appeared his facial expression, voice tone, and physical behaviorisms adjusted clearly when this question was asked.
The behavior changed so much, it immediately signified to me something...
After our call closed, I questioned what he knew, or what was going on. I hadn't had a chance to review my interviews on my company glassdoor profile in a while. After review, I saw that I was bashed by a candidate who did not get the job and was upset from a postponement in an hiring decision.
I truly believe this is why I wasn't selected.
If it is, I'd expect that all candidates should be reviewed under the same criteria.
I can say I've learned a lesson here. Ask everyone I hire to write me a Linkedin profile review and a interview Glassdoor review. I can't just let my work speak for itself (400+ hires in less than 4 years, 98% close rate, reporting to 30+ managers, etc., etc) Many happy employees.
I've been hesitant to write about my experience, which I'm sure can be disregarded as conjecture. But, in my heart, I had to write what my thoughts were here.
