I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn. They said my experience and passion for Software Engineering were just what they are looking for, however my recruiter said they were on PTO, and I would be talking to one of their colleagues for a phone screen.
The recruiter sounded scripted, and was listing facts such as "37% increase in annual profit", in my head I thought "Why do I care about this number?". The recruiter also stated the industries their clients work for, one of which being High-Tech, which I thought was very vague, and broad, and asked what specific applications in the High-Tech. The recruiter sounded mad, and said "If you want to know the clients, you don't have to disguise it in a question, just ask directly"
At the end, the recruiter told me my experience sounded light compared to leaders at the company, and that they would email me right after the phone call, and every 6 months after to see how I am doing. I did not get an email yet.
I felt challenged, the whole time in the phone screen, and thought the recruiter was being unnecessarily difficult and rude. Also, I thought it was kind of a red flag for the recruiter to be working on paid time off.
I would not recommend applying or working here.
