      Account Operations Coordinator Interview

      Apr 10, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Portland, OR
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (Portland, OR) in Mar 2019

      Interview

Pros: 1. Everyone I interviewed with gave a clear description on what they expected from the role and how it would interact with their particular team. 2. Recruiter provided feedback after first and second interview. Cons: 1. Extremely Disorganized Process: two separate recruiters double booking interviews, the timelines presented were never met (the original 1.5 week process ended up being 1 month long), originally told I'd be having a group style interview from two different people but instead came in for two additional 20 minute long rounds that were scheduled weeks apart. The recruiter mentioned that their “unorthodox process” was due to it being an “internal role” and assured a much more cohesive process exists for potential consultants. 2. Two of my interviewers boasted about Slalom's Diversity and Inclusion efforts but I went into the Portland office three separate times and was not interviewed by one POC and did not see one POC in the office. Not one. Diversity & Inclusion often gets used as a buzzword by companies trying to sell their company as trendy and forward-thinking to potential employees and that’s the exact feel I got while interviewing with Slalom. If your D&I efforts are in the works and not completely ironed out, then I would suggest not boasting about them because you're setting up workplace expectations that you will not be able to meet. This might be particular to the Portland branch but I think this is something important to be aware of for any POC planning to interview with this company.

We appreciate you sharing this review. Even when a role is new and we are doing our best to organize and learn as we go, your feedback is an important reminder for us to always ensure we have as structured and clear a process as possible for every position and candidate. And it is important that we do represent the values of Inclusion and Diversity we espouse. Much of our workforce is out at their respective client sites and not in our Slalom offices, however - we should be mindful of making sure we have more diversity in those supporting the interview process itself. Thank you for the important and meaningful feedback.
